Salary: open
Job type: B2B contract

Recruitment process: Stage 1
English: B2+/C1
Luxmed, MultiSport, equipment provided by the client

Modernization of network infrastructure in the client's global locations (USA, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, EU) by replacing Cisco devices with new Arista switches.
• Collaboration with the technical team (Warsaw) and business stakeholders (USA)
• Management of documentation, risk, budget, and project communication
• Knowledge of Cisco networks and switches and an understanding of their impact on the business and operational environment is essential
• Experience with Arista is a plus
The team:
• The networking team is located in Warsaw

• Client's business and stakeholders are in the USA - work hours are 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM Polish time, so there will be evening calls, work 50/50 in local hours and ET

Project context:
- Network Switches are at Risk
- No longer supported by OEM vendor (EOL/ EOS)
- Devices need to be replaced for support and software upgrade - security risks
- Network resiliency challenges – risk of business impacting outages

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is High
- The Cisco operational cost model has become excessive
- Other manufacturers are providing more “bang for the buck”
- Additional business-value-add technology features
- Lower TCO
- Reduced Support and Maintenance costs

IT Solution: Purchase and Receive replacement switches in 2024 – CapEx advantage
- 294 Switches supporting replacement of 273 Cisco LCM replacements - US, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, EU

Leverage Arista and Eastern’s implementation expertise to support successful deployment
- High Level / Low Level Designs
- Migration planning and Scheduling
- Rack and Stack
- Implementation and Testing / UAT
- Knowledge Transfer to Biogen/ HCL – technology shifts from Cisco

Project Outcome:
Eliminate Risk of EOS Switches
  • Eliminate EOS unpatchable switches – remove vulnerabilities of future security threats
  • New switches are more operationally stable
  • Significantly lower risk of outages by improving network resiliency
  • Reduce Operational Costs - Transition from Cisco to Arista Support & Maintenance
  • Financial evaluations show YOY OpEx reductions
Role description
We need an Infrastructure project manager, who will turn the technical migration plan (Arista/Eastern runbooks, on-site survey findings) into a business-approved, executable schedule that the site can live with. Make impacts digestible, secure the right approvals, and prevent avoidable delays/outages—especially at RTP 900 Davis (manufacturing critical).

What prompted this role:
- Manufacturing pushback: “mayor of RTP” and other sites leads require impact clarity (who/what/when) before agreeing—room-by-room approvals aren’t enough.
- Operational prerequisites missing in plans: escorts, site access, freeze windows, and 4–5-week advance notice expectations.
- Data translation gap: we have port maps and survey sheets, but not yet a business-readable impact matrix tied to outage windows and owners.

Core Responsibilities
1.Impact Translation & Approval Readiness
- Engage with Biogen PM on converting device/port inventories + on-site survey sheets into a RTP Impact Matrix: Building/IDF → device classes (manufacturing, security cameras, common-area phones, lab/facilities, TP) → outage window (min/max), redundancy posture, validation owner.
- Identify who must say yes: site lead chain, Security (by IP mapping to named assets), Telephony, EHS. Capture decision rights & sign-off path.

2.Cutover Wave Planning (Business-First)
- From vendor runbooks & survey timings, produce wave plans that respect:
- Advance-notice norm (assume 4+ weeks for manufacturing areas).
- Freeze windows & shifts (7×24 manufacturing constraints).
- Escort/physical access availability.
- Keep the distribution-first contingency option explicit, with quantified business risk if deferred; align access waves later.

3.Change/Release Governanc
- Author CAB packages (What/Why/When/Impact/Validation/Backout), including:
- Initiate CR's into ServiceNow for every change and ensure CR approval completed before execution
- Confirmed stakeholder approvals (attach sign-offs).
- Engage with the vendor project plan to do a Per-wave validation checklist and pass/fail criteria.
- Track runbook acceptance log (who approved which step/timing, when).

4.Operational Orchestration
- Escorts: finalize vendor quote, secure schedules per room/wave; coordinate site access lists, badging, and after-hours policies.
- Vendor Engagement: Work closely with the vendor on executing project migration plan and liaison with Biogen side with updates and action needed.
- Pre-checks & rehearsals: dry-run timing on representative rooms; capture actuals to refine outage estimates before sitewide comms.
- Maintain the Outage Catalog (every room/device class, planned window, point of contact, rollback owner)

5.Stakeholder Comms & Meetings
- Build the Site Lead Deck (executive-level): scope, schedule ranges, risk/mitigation, who’s impacted when, ask/decision slide.
- Issue layered comms (T-30/14/7/2/1 and day-of), with clear who to call during cutovers.
- Run daily cutover standups/war-rooms and publish concise notes (status, issues, decisions, next actions).

6.Support Hypercare
- Anticipate downtime risks, rollback needs, hardware failures, and configuration mismatches.
- Maintain contingency plans.
  1. Build an escalation matrix including vendor and Biogen technical stuff to contact in case of an issue
  2. Engage the technical team to ensure resolution
  3. Send technical communication updates about the issue resolution progress
  4. Update hypercare tracker with all issues and document lessons learned
7.Documentation & Reporting
- Track device inventory (serials, models, licenses).
- Record pre/post configuration, test results.
- Provide project progress reports.

Skills & Tools
- Communication and presentation skills
- Manufacturing/site stakeholder facilitation (site leads, EHS, security).
- Expert in Excel and PowerPoint
- Translate L2/L3 & on-site survey data into business impacts.
- Planning and scoping
- Risk Management
- Ticketing and Change Controls
- Resource coordination
- Documentation and Reporting

Interfaces & Cadence
- Daily: Vendor TPM & Network Eng (timing, runbooks, blockers).
